Schools Out For Summer

It was the most perfect day for the last day of school. The sky was the most beautiful blue, the clouds floated by as if they were watching us, and the sun, warm and yellow. Teachers and staff gathered outside to see the students leave and waved goodbye and wished them a fun and safe summer. Mrs. Bianchi truly snapped a great picture of the event (check out our website).  Thank you!!  I can't believe that another school year has flown by. Have a fun and safe summer. 

I Want To Celebrate And Live My Life

On Wednesday, June 15, at 2:30 p.m., the entire school came together and surprised Mrs. Killips with an all-school assembly to wish her all the best in her retirement (hee hee...she was really surprised!) (Her husband, Dave, even came and surprised her too, all the way from Chelsea.).  There were tears, laughter, and a lot of singing as we watched a video that was created to celebrate the past three years as Woodland Meadows Principal. (Thank you Mrs. Spencer for creating the video!) We laughed because there were a lot of funny video clips with Mrs. Killips dressed as a bee and Mrs. Killips being slimed, we had tears because the video showed how much of a family that we really are at Woodland Meadows and we have to say goodbye to one of them (and Mrs. Spencer had to play that sappy "Over The Rainbow" song which gets you everytime), and there was a lot of singing because for some reason, the students all seemed to know the words to Dynamite by Taio Cruz, and the dance moves. (There's a YouTube video of the Woodland Meadows dance team that took home 1st place this year ...take a look if you can find it.) By the end of the video we were all throwing our hands up in the air.  We had what you would call a Woodland Meadows' celebration! Wish you could have been there. PTA presented Mrs. Killips with a bookshelf of all of her favorite children's books (well, not all of them, I think her favorite list is in the 1000s). It's kind of her gift to us, because she can't take it home, but she can come visit it. It's home will be in the Media Center for students to enjoy.  Ask your child/ren about the assembly, and next time you are visiting, take a look (but first sign in and say hello we'd love to see you).

Petal Power

Is it Petal Power or Flower Power? Without the petals, it wouldn't be a flower, it would just be the middle of the petals, which I forget what that is called. You have to have both in order for it to be a flower, right? I'll have to ask Mrs. Cox (she will know).  This beautiful daisy, along with so many other spring time flowers are part of the Woodland Meadows family. They make their home right at the entry of the front doors of the school, welcoming you at every visit. Thank you PTA for watering, feeding, and raising them to be such healthy beautiful plants for us to enjoy. On Wednesday night, PTA parents, in the rain of all things ... geez, came together to prepare the flowers for the summer. That brings me to the next thought, if you are interested in helping with the flowers during the summer  .. What family fun, huh? ... please let PTA know that you would like to do that.  I've got an email address lined up for you .... let me know. 

Help! I'm Lost and Want to Be Found!

Anything look familiar? These items are lost and really want to be found. I can hear their plea every time I pass them in the hallway (well, not really). The box is located just past the Media Center in the hallway on the right (don't forget to stop in the office first and sign in and say hello).  If you're not able to visit the school before the end of the school year and you are missing an item, ask your child to take a look, and if he/she needs help looking, I'll be glad to help out.  The week after school is out, the clothing is packed up and usually taken to the Goodwill Store in Saline, but there has to be other charities out there that could benefit from these left-behind items.  If you know of a charity that you feel could benefit, let me know. 

Lost and Found

If you have any of these at your house, please bring them into the office next time you visit us, or send them with your student in their backpack.  No, silly, not the bee, the visitor badge. Thank you!
